The government agreement outlines the government's plans to restore the country's financial health. Getting more people into work is one of the key pillars. The aim is to reverse the annual increase in long-term incapacity for work. The government emphasizes the shared responsibility of all involved parties in this regard. A "Back-To-Work-barometer" will be created as a monitoring instrument. The goal is improvement at all levels: preventing health problems, preventing absenteeism due to health problems, and returning to work as quickly as possible in case of absenteeism. The aim is to increase the income difference between work and benefits, making working more attractive.

A government recommendation (FPS Employment, Labour Humanisation and Welfare at Work Supervision) of February 29, 2024, has changed the working method. Premed will implement this change on January 1, 2025.

Approximately 1 in 3 of all cancers discovered today is a type of skin cancer (melanoma or non-melanoma). This makes skin cancer the most common cancer worldwide and in Belgium. 1 in 5 people will be confronted with skin cancer before the age of 75. A large part of skin cancers can be prevented by adequately protecting oneself against UV rays (sunlight and sunbeds).

New rules for air purification systems

As of May 18, 2024, air purification systems must be recognized as effective and harmless by the FPS Public Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment. This is intended to limit the risk of viral infections that we inhale through the air.

When an employer invokes medical force majeure to terminate an employment contract, they are obliged to support the incapacitated employee in finding a new job.
Whereas until now this took the form of an Outplacement offer, from April 1st this will be done by means of a contribution to the Back-to-Work Fund.
