A large proportion of lost working days in the EU are caused by absence from work due to musculoskeletal disorders. Employees with musculoskeletal disorders are also absent for longer periods on average than employees without health problems. The most common musculoskeletal disorders are back pain and upper limb pain.

It is therefore of great importance that this problem is brought to attention and that employers receive support and guidance in the prevention of or dealing with musculoskeletal disorders.
