Maggie De Block launches campaign about burnout. The goal of the campaign is to inform people and provide the necessary tools for the prevention and detection of burnout. This allows people to orient themselves to the right institutions for support.

The website www.stressburnout.belgie.be aims to provide answers to many questions, such as: what can you do yourself to improve your physical, mental and social well-being? How do you recognize if a colleague shows burnout symptoms and how can you support him/her? Which institutions can you contact for support? What can you do as an employer to prevent burnout or to reintegrate employees after burnout into the workplace? What financial contributions can you receive from your health insurance fund?

On the website you will also find video testimonials from psychiatrists, managers, and employees.

Today we know how burnout develops and what phases someone with burnout goes through.

But perhaps even more important: we now also know better how to prevent, recognize, and overcome burnout.

  • Prevention - How do you prevent burnout and improve well-being at work?
  • Recognize - What is burnout? How do you distinguish it from stress or depression?
  • Recover - How do you react to burnout? Who do you ask for help to recover?
  • After burnout - How do you build a new professional life in the best circumstances?

'It is difficult to find correct information about stress or burnout. Often it is already late when people become aware of it and start doing something about it. That is why I am launching this campaign for the prevention of burnout. This way, citizens, their environment, employers and healthcare providers can visit the website' - Minister De Block
