- Place as much material as possible at height instead of on the ground. Use a step or platform to place your bucket on. Create a workbench (with trestles) to store additional material.
- Use tools to limit physical strain. Think of longer brushes, material that you can operate from a greater distance, well-maintained sanders instead of prolonged use of sandpaper, a safe step, a scaffolding…
- Organize your workstation – and for example, your van – in such a way that frequently used material is within reach. Also in storage areas, organize the material so that heavy loads to be lifted are at hip height. Light and frequently used loads are best placed between knee and shoulder height. Use a cart where necessary.
- Do you have to work kneeling? Limit the duration by varying your posture and use knee pads or a mat.
- As a painter, you perform many repetitive actions. Try to vary tasks as much as possible, take occasional breaks, and stretch regularly throughout the day.
