Five years ago, the coronavirus crisis forced companies worldwide to quickly switch to remote work and hybrid work. This change brought many benefits, such as increased flexibility and a better work-life balance. However, despite these benefits, many companies still face the challenges of hybrid working. The topic remains relevant and often causes friction between employers and employees, or among colleagues.

To support companies in navigating this complex matter, the Federal Public Service Employment, Labour and Social Dialogue (FOD WASO) has developed a new tool. This tool offers companies the opportunity to reflect on their current hybrid work policy and helps in developing a sustainable and workable policy for both employees and employers.

The tool consists of three checklists, each highlighting a different aspect of hybrid working:

  1. A basis for hybrid working: This checklist covers the fundamental requirements for setting up a hybrid work organisation.
  2. Organizing hybrid working: This discusses which actors should be involved in developing a hybrid work policy and how this can best be organized.
  3. The well-being components of hybrid working: This checklist focuses on individual risks and well-being aspects in a hybrid work environment.

This free tool is based on extensive research and practical experiences of fourteen companies that have expanded their teleworking facilities since the 2020 health crisis. By sharing these experiences, the tool offers valuable insights and concrete tools to develop an effective hybrid work policy… or to scrutinize your current policy.
